Fisher Price Table Time Cow Booster
When we had our second son, I realized we would need the DuoDiner (see below) for the little one, and our oldest would be losing his seat.
So after a bit of research, we ended up buying the Fisher Price Cow Booster. It has worked out so well for the past year.
What I like about it:
- Removable straps in case you need to wash them (or your child is old enough and doesn't need them)
- The straps that hook it to the chair keep it snug even when your child is climbing in and out.
- Gross warning!!!! The base is solid plastic so if/when your child has an accident (or spills liquid), the liquid sits in the booster seat and doesn't seep onto the chair.
- It's super cute!
- It's cheap! $12 right now on amazon!
- It lifts my son up just to the perfect height to eat comfortably.
This works out very nicely with our Summer Infant place mat.

Graco DuoDiner High Chair
I am absolutely in love with my high-chair! In fact, I think it's the best high chair I've seen hands down! I've recommended this chair to all my pregnant friends because I love it so much. My good friend and I actually got ours around the same time, and she loves her Duo Diner too. Here's what I love about it:
- You can wipe the seat clean super easy. The cover doesn't look or feel like vinyl at all, but it wipes like vinyl.
- You can take off the top part of the tray to wash.
- The tray wipes clean super easy also.
- FAVORITE PART! It turns into a booster seat. If you remove the seat from the high chair stand, you can secure it onto the table chair. You can use it with or without the tray this way. The arms of the high chair keep your little one secure on the sides (along with the safety straps), but they fit under the table so you can scoot your child close to the table (when not using the tray).
- The straps and cover come off easily and always wash clean. My son stained it with blueberries, and when it was out of the washer, it was as good as new.
- You can order new covers from Gracobaby.com. I wanted to change up the high chair for my 2nd son, so I just ordered a new cover in a different pattern.

Sock Ons! A Simple Way to Keep Socks On!
These simple little ankle brace type socks are amazing! And by far one of my favorite baby products. My son has VERY sweaty feet and had to wear socks all the time (Even during the hot summer). My friend gave me these Sock Ons, and we never lost a sock. No matter how hard my future soccer player kicked, his socks stayed on!! These are a favorite to give at baby showers.
They're hard to see, but you can see the little white "sock ons" on my little guy's feet.

Woombie
I have a swaddling addict. There I admit it!! My child just recently learned to go to sleep without being swaddled (at about 13 months). He just never stops moving, and swaddling his arms calmed him down (when he was older, I always removed the swaddle before laying him down). But when he was REALLY little, I discovered the Woombie Houdini. It's the best! The only two steps you have to take are 1) lay your baby down in the woombie 2) zip!
I had one as a newborn for "A" and was so sad when he grew out of it. Luckily my favorite baby website www.babyhalfoff.com featured them in April 2011 and ordered the "Big Baby" version for . . . . . . you guessed it, half off!!! I was on a roll ordering so I bought two more for my friend who was about to have twins. The best part; these woombies were half off and I had enough money to buy her more gifts for her shower. Ah the feeling of satisfaction! I love Woombies, and I love babyhalfoff.com

Scout the Dog
This is a very loved toy in our house. It is programmable so it says your child's name and sings the songs your child likes. It also says his/her favorite food, color, and animal. Your child can press each paw and the belly.
Scout comes with a USB cable and you have to create a username with Leapfrog and you plug him in, and wa-la. You can find Scout at Target for $25. (There is also the girl version)

Dr. Seuss Board Books
A few weeks after my little guy was born, my brother sent us a set of Dr. Seuss board books. I had no idea at the time how much we would be using them and how much A would like them.
I often find A in his room, sitting on the floor, reading these books. He also brings them to us multiple times a day so we can read them to him. They are the best! And as my friend Gretchen said. . . . "The best part about Dr. Seuss books is that you don't have to read the pages in order for them to make sense." That way, your little page turner can turn to whatever page he/she wants! You can get these books at Amazon.

Pediped® Originals
Pediped Originals- Jordyn
I've read and been told by our pediatrician that soft and flexible "crib shoes" are best for babies growing feet. I'd heard of Robeez and was considering buying them when my friend Christy gave me a pair of Pediped Originals. I absolutely loves how they formed around A's feet and were so handsome. When he quickly outgrew those shoes, I went to the Pediped website and found their sale items were very reasonable. I was so excited to get the next handsome pair in the mail and put them on my little man's feet!
Wee Squeak Shoes
Now that the little guy is walking (especially cause he loves walking on dirt), I needed a shoe that has more of a sole (yet still soft and flexible). We went to our local baby store and found these (yes handsome) squeaker shoes. Every step he takes, he squeaks. Now you may say "that sounds very annoying". That's what I thought too, but it's not the case. I love them because I know exactly where he. A is such a busy baby, he's all over the place. With these shoes, I can hear him walking into the other room, so I can chase after him. You can also purchase these at the Wee Squeak website.
Aden and Anais Prince Charming Swaddles
I absolutely cannot live without these swaddle blankets. My son still needs to be swaddled sometimes(I know, he's a bit old, but I don't swaddle him tightly and he gets out of it within a few minutes of laying down). I think he is so busy, he needs some help relaxing. The problem is that A quickly grew out of the tiny flannel swaddles. Aden and Anais swaddle blankets are 47" x 47" which are plenty big for my little monster. I also love how they are muslin so they are lightweight and they get softer with each wash. They are kind of pricey ($49.95/ 4 pack) but completely worth it.
Swaddle Me by Summer Infant
We got these for our baby shower and I thought "I can swaddle just fine, why would I need these?" Well....... they are a miracle swaddler that's why I would need them! When putting your baby in the Swaddle me, you just wrap and velcro. He couldn't get out of it because he was velcroed in. We ended up buying more and in the bigger sizes so we could keep using them. I truly believe that the Swaddle Me's helped A sleep through the night. And for that, I need to thank the company Summer Infant!
Dr. Brown Natural Flow Glass Bottles
I received these bottles at my baby shower and had my doubts. Glass bottles??? Why would I want those? Won't they break easy when he carries them around? Well, they are fantastic. They never broke (all 6 of my plastic bottles broke) and they reduced the amount of air and bubbles my son swallowed. We could definitely tell there was a difference when he would use the plastic bottles instead of the Dr. Brown bottles. I also didn't have to worry about him dropping them because he never carries his bottle around. He eats, and then is off and running. I also like the fact that I don't have to worry about the chemicals in the plastic bottles. http://www.handi-craft.com/bottles/glass/
Bumpkin Waterproof Bibs
I never thought I would have a preference of bibs! Boy was I WRONG! The little cloth bibs are great for the drooling infant but once my little man started feeding himself solids, we needed something that kept his clothes from becoming a total disaster. I have three types and Bumpkins are my favorite. They wipe up nicely, but when they are put in the laundry (and accidentally the drier) they turn out perfect. One brand (Koala Kids) accidentally went in the drier and is a melted plastic mess. The other brand (Circo) fell apart after the first wash. I also love the little pocket at the bottom that catches (some of) the food that doesn't make his mouth.

Munchkin Snack Catcher
Now that my little man is walking around and feeding himself, I find I can't live without his snack cup. I have 4 of them. That way if some are in the dishwasher, I still have 2 ready to go. They are so easy to fill and just throw in the diaper bag and car. I like to fill one with crunchies like Veggie Sticks or Goldfish and the other one with cut apples or pears (makes me feel better about him constantly snacking if we are on the run). They are also great because he has no problem getting his hand in, and the lid keeps the food safely in. A was able to figure out putting his hand in when he was 10 months old and ready to eat some goldfish.
I've Changed My Mind!
Well, "A" has amazing little fingers. He can pop the lid off of the Munchkin Snack Catcher in a matter of seconds and have his Veggie Stix thrown all over the car in a few more seconds. I searched and searched for a different kind, but could only find snack cups with pop on/off lids. Then I went to Babies R Us and a light was shining down on the answer! It was the Playtex Twist and Click Flip Top Snacker! The lid twists on and off!
This should buy me a few more months until "A" figures out how to twist. The best part; it is $4! *** Ah-ha, I found it on Amazon for $3!

WubbaNub!
If we can't find the WubbaNub, all activity stops, the world stops turning, and the focus changes to "FIND THE WABBANUB". Well, if you don't know what a WubbaNub is, it's a binky attached to the mouth of a stuffed animal. I bought it in desperation when my son was newborn. I was hoping it would help the misery known as car rides. I thought that maybe the WubbaNub could sit on his chest and he could actually find the WubbaNub during a car ride. WRONG! But as the little man got bigger, he got more attached to this stuffed animal and binky combination. Now he always wants it. He will even sit in his crib and play with it when he wakes up. But....... it's now time to wean from the binky which means, no more WubbaNub. Wish us luck! We got our WubbaNub at Babies R Us. But you can find a store at http://www.wubbanub.com/prod_red-dog.html
Frogglez
My son has turned into an amazing swimmer but doesn't like when the goggles get water in them and doesn't like how the straps pull and pinch his sensitive head. These Frogglez are amazing. They stay in place and are so soft. I've seen little girls wear them at swim team and they are also great at keeping hair out of faces.

The Do's and Don't('s) For Buying Baby Gifts
When buying baby gifts for my expectant friends, I had always wondered if what I had gotten them was useful or at least wanted. Now that I have a baby of my own here are some tips.
- If your friend has a registry, it's always a good idea to stick to what she wants.
- If your friend has a registry, it's always a good idea to stick to what she wants.
Do- Diapers: Find out if your friend is going to use disposables or cloth. If they are using disposables, I'd give them bigger size diapers like a box of 2's or 3's. Some babies are born too big for newborn diapers, and usually moms get multiple gifts of newborn sized diapers. If they are using cloth, find out what brand and buy 1 or 2. These diapers can be expensive so just 1 diaper will be greatly appreciated.
- Clothes in bigger sizes: I had plenty of newborn - 9 month clothes given to me. So much in fact that I was a bit anxious about getting the chance to have A wear them all. Now that my little man is in 18 month clothes, I had to go buy them all. ;( - Books: A baby can never have too many books. I do suggest however you buy board books. - Developmental toys: I absolutely love that I haven't bought any toys for my little guy. Every toy was given to us. If we received a duplicate toy, I didn't return it. I just kept it somewhere else like in the car or at Grandma's house. - Bibs: Mom's can never have too many bibs. - Gift cards to any baby store: No explanation needed |
Don't- Baby lotions/bath products: I had previously thought that this was a good idea, but now that A has such sensitive skin, I can't use any of the products I received at my shower. :( We can only use Burts Bees or Aveno.
- Bedding (including sheets and changing pad covers): Unless you know what the baby's nursery looks like and how it is decorated, I would stay away from these products. - Baby shoes for infants 0-9 months: Many parents don't have their young infant wear shoes because of recommendations from pediatricians and the Academy of Pediatrics. Even though these shoes tend to be super cute, they may just be wasted. - Pacifiers: There are so many types of pacifiers on the market and you never know which one the baby will like. Also, some parents may choose not to use pacifiers. Strollers/Car seats/Cribs: These are items that the parents need to pick out themselves according to their needs (unless they are on the registry). |
