I know that coming up with ideas and moving that Elf can be very stressful! I thought that maybe I can help with that stress and share my ideas. Here's how I planned it this year:
1) I went to Target the day after christmas and got MANY christmas supplies half off (xmas pjs, Elf clothing, tree supplies, holiday candy and chapstick). 2) I waited until free shipping on www.orientaltradingcompany.com and bought Elf on the Shelf candies, crafts, and activities. 3) I made a calendar for the month of decemenber. Boy does it make it easy at night to just look at the calendar! :) So basically, you'll need to be prepared the day after Christmas. For now, you can always go to Dollar Tree or Amazon.com to pick up supplies. Day 1: Potch showed up at the door with new pajamas and a bag for the boys to donate their toys. |
Day 4
Potch brought a new star for our tree. It's a fun star. LED lights circle on the ceiling!
Day 5Potch got a new sweater and was caught looking at himself in the mirror.
Day 7Potch got caught playing with the dinosaurs.
|
Day 6Candy cane tic-tac's for each boy! This was VERY exciting!!
Day 8Potch was roasting marshmallows with his other elf friends. (I found chocolate Elf on the Shelf characters at orientaltrading.com)
|
Day 9.Good thing Potch had holiday bandages when he fell down!
|
Day 10Potch's lips were feeling rather chapped.

Day 11 |
Day 12 |
Somebody's 5th birthday is coming up next month, so Potch started the countdown chain. (This could also work as Day 1 to countdown Christmas).
|
Potch was caught playing magnetic BINGO with the Florida Gator. (actually a perfect game for a 4 year old. The magnets helped a lot). I found this gem at World Market.
|
Day 15Potch brought a new Christmas decoration.
|
Day 16Potch decorated A's room with Christmas lights. Unfortunately, A didn't notice his room was brightly lit. He noticed his clock didn't have blue numbers on it anymore. Apparently Potch accidentally unplugged the clock. Oops! A also wouldn't change in his room because Potch was watching. I ended up making a teeny tiny blindfold for Potch.
